ISS looking for records of Seals of Bull Island and Dublin Bay. All info helpful, historic, anecdotal, text, memories, pictures. The amount of anecdotal evidence of their presence, use of habitat and current threats to their existence in Bay provides a compelling, incontrovertible case for their protection and monitoring.
Ireland still has no national monitoring programme for seals, other than the evidence of ISS volunteers and public and if this can be secured for Dublin Bay, it may then be rolled out nationally. The ISS and public sustain a Dead Seal Database, providing all sorts of exciting new info.
The oldest known remains of seals in Ireland are from Dublin Bay and grey seals are the world’s first protected wild species and the seals of the bay a link with our earliest past and barometer of future
No information is insignificant!
